filming techniques/ tips for filming thriller genre

Shots/ Tips to help achieve a successful thriller film 

Bird eye/ high angle 
This shot is used to make the figure or object look more vulnerable or powerless. 







Close up 
Close ups are used to reveal the reactions in characters. it is also used to show detail in certain scenes. 








Tracking or panning shot 
These shots help create the effect that a certain character is being followed or watched, as well as helping establish the scene in which the film will take place. This shot also helps create suspense as you don't know what shot will be next.







Extreme long shot 
This shot is great for establishing horror or thriller genres, revealing how deserted somewhere is. 




TIPS

  • Be selective with clips 
  • Don't over do it with effects and music 
  • Focus on one major idea at a time 
  • Time your reveal
